Ambition hits Pride | Lorgar Aurelian of the Word Bearers (XVII Legion)

Well, it didn't turned out as much as a wip-blog as I have hoped. Two months ago I got hold of the model and got it painted in only two sessions (both sessions had about two months between 'em, but who cares).

So Mr XVII of them Space Marines of the chapter of the Word Bearers I have finished. Lorgar Aurelian, the Gold Man, the Keeper of Word, the Beholder of blahlbahblah. Heretic. Persona non grata. Zealot. And ... a very awesome bold guy.

The armor is a dark red mixed with Khorne Red (Citadel) and small touches of Xereus Purple (Citadel) and Trollblood Base (P3). When the basecoat has dried I gave it a good wash with a mix of Charcoal Black (P3) and Alien Purple (Warpaint) and a single little drop of flushing fluid as a flowing agent.
For highlights I painted a mix of Khorne Red and Evil Sunz Scarlett (Citadel) and slight touches of Heartfire (P3).

The gold parts are basically Sycorax Bronze (Citadel). This I shaded with a mix of Beaten Purple (P3), Bastion Grey (P3) and Kantor Blue (Citadel) - again with a flowing agent. The highlights were painted with at 1:1 mix of Sycorax and Runefang Steel (Citadel).

The eyes were painted plainly white with Ivory (Vallejo) and got several thin shades of Enchanted Blue (Citadel) mixed with Pallid Wych Flesh (Citadel) and lots of water (ratio of 2:1:8).

That's it basically. The base was painted in a dark grey (some old paints with no label) and drybrushed with Rakarth Flesh (Citadel) and Screaming Skull (Citadel). The glowing effect was achieved by adding umpteen thin layers of a mixture of flowing agent, water, Moot Green (Citadel) and Warboss Green (Citadel) in a ratio of 1:8:2:1.

I hope client will be as satisfied as I am. It didn't turned out to be my "best model ever" as I have intend. Since I stood there in my shelf and was begging for attention I wanted to finish it ASAP. But still it's my highest standard I can achieve right now.
